Key elements to consider in a luxurious Irish kitchen

“He who works with his hands is a labourer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.” – St. Francis of Assissi

In-frame kitchens by O’Connors of Drumleck are one of the finest on the market in Ireland. These kitchens are designed and manufactured on-site in our custom facility in Co. Louth, adjacent to the M1 motorway exit number 15, almost exactly midway between Belfast and Dublin.

For connoisseurs of kitchens, you will revel in the solid cabinetry and the intricate dovetail drawers, beaded and bevelled surfaces and fine hardware. Within the details, you have further choices between painted finish or textured wood. We will advise you on the lighting and you can choose bar stools, splashback, work surface and flooring to maximise your design.

Layout

There are important design regulations to follow in order to create a functional kitchen in which doors open and chairs pull out with plenty of space around them. Depending on the interior architecture of your home, we can consider different layouts.

Flow

Another important point is the flow of your kitchen. This involves taking time to think about the placement of items within the kitchen. Do you have a handy drawer for spices or oils? Do you need your heavy Kitchen Aid hidden within a useful cabinet to avoid having it taking up countertop space? Where will the coffee and tea go? The dry stores? The fruit and vegetables? Everything should have a designated area to allow you to move efficiently in the space.

Splashback

There are wonderful products, textures, and colours to add to your kitchen in the form of a functional splashback. It should be easy to clean and avoid too many details that could potentially attract dirt.

Painting

The incredible choice of paint colours that exist in the marketplace today gives you the scope to get the shade perfect for your kitchen. Two tones or keeping it simple with one colour, our designers will advise you according to the layout, style, natural lighting and architecture of your home.

Pantry

Adding a kitchen pantry, whether as a separate room or a large cupboard in the kitchen itself, is a great way to stay organised. We recommend including a cleverly thought out design to ensure maximum storage.

How to get started

Now that we have given you some food for thought, are you wondering how to get started on laying out those designs? We will help you throughout the process, and as we build the kitchens in our workshop, we have control of the design throughout.
